Bundle Of Trouble; GIVEAWAY

Both winners have been notified
One of my favorite book genres are what "the industry" affectionately refers to as Cozy Mysteries. I don't know that there's any distinct definition of a cozy mystery, but they usually feature a female lead, and the mystery part of the book isn't super scary...no blood and gore; you can safely read a cozy before bed time and not worry about nightmares! Cozies are usually written as a series.

I was recently introduced to a new author, and a new cozy mystery series. Diana Orgain writes the Maternal Instinct Mysteries, and her first book is Bundle of Trouble.

From the back cover of Bundle of Trouble:
First-time mom Kate Connolly may have found the perfect work-from-home Mommy job: Private Investigator. After all, the hours are flexible, she can bring the baby along on stake-outs, and if you’re going to be up all night anyway, you might as well solve some crimes…

Kate imagined she’d spend her maternity leave crooning lullabies and snuggling her beautiful new baby. But then she receives a disturbing phone call telling her that a body has been pulled from San Francisco Bay, and the police think it may be her brother-in-law.

Now, in addition to trying to solve the mystery of how one six-pound baby can generate ten times her weight in laundry, Kate finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation with multiplying victims. And when her husband is detained in connection with the crimes, Kate must crack the case faster than you can say “diaper rash” to keep her little family together…

This book arrived at just the right time. It takes place in the first six weeks of Kate's new motherhood. With my own three-month-old at home I could definitely relate to what she was experiencing! I especially related to Kate's need to update her To-Do list each day. Although I must say, Kate's to-do's were far more entertaining than my own! The mystery portion of the book was nicely written, keeping me guessing but not scaring me half-to-death. Ms. Orgain plans to continue her Maternal Instinct series as Kate's baby grows; book two will be the baby's second month, book three the third month, and so on.

To celebrate the release of Bundle of Trouble, Ms. Orgain has partnered with Libraknits to give away a luxurious handmade baby hat! Entry details are on her website, and a winner will be chosen on Labor Day (September 7!).

I love mysteries...especially ones with female PIs. A mystery about a mom dealing with the same crap I am? Sounds awesome.
