De-Stress And Recharge With 1-800-Flowers (GIVEAWAY)

Winner is Leslie of Leslie Loves Veggies! Enjoy your flowers!!!

I bet you knew that color and scent can directly influence your mood, didn't you? How many of us instantly feel a little pick-me-up when we get that first heady whiff of coffee in the morning? Scents can pick us up, or calm us down. Many industries use this to their advantage, painting the walls of restaurants certain colors to entice you to order more, for example. Or spas circulating soothing scents to help you relax while you enjoy their services.

Did you know you can benefit from scent and color in your own home? I was recently told about a Harvard study showing that people who made a point of looking at flowers first thing in the morning felt cheerier and more energetic throughout the day. Now, I don't know if I'd give up my morning coffee for this....but I may mention this stuff to my sweet husband!! Because trust me, with a toddler and a newborn...I need all the help I can get!

Since I'm in need of ideas to de-stress and recharge, I looked into which flowers combine the scents and colors to do the job.

Roses: their scent and bold color help boost energy and improve mood. Who wouldn't be in a good mood looking at this Sweetheart Rose Bouquet?

Lavender: often used for insomnia, the scent of lavender calms and relaxes. This Lavender Dish Garden would look fantastic on a nightstand.

Light purple/blue: These colors soothe. They reduce tension and calm anxiety. Use these colors in a room where you want comfort and tranquility. A blue hydrangea would be a perfect arrangement.

Yellow: The color yellow is associated with increased alertness, well being, and self-esteem. It's cheerful and uplifting, like this Martha Stewart Golden Sunflower Bouquet.

You can read more about the "power of flowers" at the official 1-800-Flowers blog. In the meantime, I have a $50 gift card to 1-800-Flowers for one of you, so you can see for yourself how much flowers can improve your mood!

Jade Bonsai in Water Garden is the arrangement that brought a smile to my face (and an "ahhh" sound from that smile). The first few smiles I had were actually all food arrangements, but I don't need sweets! :P So I kept looking until I found the beautiful Bonsai arrangements. It was fun just looking, thanks! :)

Not sure about the de-stressing. But my Mom's birthday is the 29th and she loves potted plants. So I would pick the gardenias, or the blue dish garden since blue is her fav color.

De-stressing would probably be really helpful with BOTH! ;0

Everyone has a morning now & then where they don't want to get out of bed & just hide under the covers. Well, today one of the pumps on riding mower went kaput (new one is $650), hubby's got a whopper of an estimate for needed car parts & labor, and contractor said we new a new roof (we've been patching up for some time now). But the WORST stress is I have to make appointment to see my dentist asap. I think tomorrow morning I want to hide under covers. :-(

So many beautiful flowers. I got lost on their site and actually forgot my problems for a little while. I love sunflowers, so my fave is Martha Stewart's Yellow Sunflower Bouquet. Years ago, I grew very tall sunflowers on the perimeter of my 100 sq. ft. veggie garden & they were my sentinels guarding my treasures. :-)

Okay we all have stuff! But I don't only have BATS! That cost a fortune to de-bat and it may take weeks. Oh, did I mention I live in the state of TX that protects BATS the months of June and July since they are having babies and nursing. Anyway back to my stress...so after spending a few thousand dollars the bats will take a few weeks to rid. Of course there is the toxic stuff they leave behind that causes lung and respiratory problems. I am really stressed!!!!!!!

Let's see here... why I need a destress session?

I'm 15 months pregnant with my third, (that's what it feels like), when my second is only a mere 14 months old. With 2 weeks left, I'm nesting like a crazy lady, which only serves to make me crazier since I can't bend at the waist anymore to pick things up off the floor.

And I just found a bug on my foot.

I really just love flowers and honestly? I'd like sending them to someone else more. :) I'm afraid that post partum, i'd sleep through the potential enjoyment.

This has been such a busy time. One of my sons is a volunteer at the local nature center so I've been taking him back and forth to that, along with all of his other activities. Next week both of my sons are going to camp for a week so I'm trying to pack all of their stuff, buy snacks, get all of their equipment together (soccer), and buy whatever they don't have. And on top of that the day before they leave we have to go to my FIL's about 2 hours away for a family reunion and I'm bringing about half of the food so I have to get all of that ready. HELP!

I need to de-stress because my previously sweet and brilliant son - valedictorian of his class - is suddenly saying he is unable to focus. The fact that he flipped and totalled our car kind of lends credence to what he's saying. Our health insurance is horrible and we've had to take him for all sorts of tests to figure out what's wrong. He gets extremely angry at ME for not having gotten him tested sooner, when I'm really doing the best that I can. So he's mad at me for "letting this happen to him", my husband is mad that it's costing so much, and my daughter is upset that we're putting so much effort into her brother. Sometimes I just want to run away and never look back.

I need to de-stress and recharge because I haven't had a solid night's sleep in about 2 weeks now, if I get 3 hours a night it's a miracle!

I would put this certificate towards the 'Rose and Lilies in Lenox® Crystal Vase' bouquet. It contains my two absolute favorite flowers in ONE bouquet, how perfect is that??

I've got 2 small boys I've got to keep busy and active this summer or else they will fight non-stop. Each day is as jammed packed as I can get it, so it's no doubt that I need to de-stress and recharge!! Thanks for the giveaway.

I have two children under two and lost my drivers license because of medical problems (fainting) and my 22 month old is the most active little guy you will meet. So from 4am to 6pm i spend lockd up in a house with my boys which drives all 3 of us crazy and raises our stress levels. I am also a Neavy wife waiting on news of where we will be living the next 2 years which is also stressful. thank you for concidering us!

My father and my father in law are both battling lung cancer. This combined with raising 2 kids and working full time is the reason I could use a little de-stressing!

Actually I was thinking of sending some flowers to my mother. She recently had an operation to fuse some bones in her spine and could really use the recharge!

I need to destress and recharge because my husband hurt his back last week at work and it has been stressful with doctor appointments and worrying about him. He will be ok but it will take time to fully heal his strained back.
