Dinosaur Train; Coming This Fall To PBS

My toddler is enamored with two things; dinosaurs and choo choo trains. He has a big train table, and spends a good deal of time pushing the trains around their tracks. He also has some dinosaur playsets, and he really enjoys those as well. So I am quite excited to see his reaction this Fall when PBS launches a brand new cartoon called Dinosaur Train. Premiering Monday, September 7, Dinosaur Train is a new animated series from The Jim Henson Company.

The star of the show is Buddy, a preschool age Tyrannosaurus Rex. Buddy is adopted by a Pteranodon family, and together they board the Dinosaur Train to learn about all the different dinosaurs in their world. The Dinosaur Train has the amazing ability to visit the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous worlds, with the train conductor providing interesting dino facts along the way.

Dinosaur Train will also include live-action segments featuring paleontologist Scott Sampson. Dr. Scott will bring to life the show's natural science and history curriculum for preschoolers, providing more dino facts and comparing dinosaurs to animals in our modern world. The show will be supported by an interactive website for parents and kids as well.

Mark your calendars for September 7, and check local listings for show times. I can't wait to see Dinosaur Train, as I need all the help I can get about dinosaurs. It's been a number of years since I learned anything about them, and I think Dinosaur Train sounds like a fun way to introduce them to my toddler. I'll be sure to remind you about Dinosaur Train as we get closer to its premiere!
