Early dental health is important, as we all know. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that good oral habits start from birth. So how do you care for these little teeth before you start brushing? When my kids were babies I just grabbed a wet washcloth and wiped their mouths out after bottles and meals. Once enough teeth came in I switched to a fingertip toothbrush, and eventually progressed to a toddler toothbrush.
I recently discovered Tooth Tissues, a new way to care for your infant's mouth and gums. Instead of a wet washcloth, I can grab a Tooth Tissue. They're disposable dental wipes designed for infants and toddlers. The wipes are textured, to gently remove plaque from gums, tongue, cheeks, and teeth. Tooth Tissues are unflavored, paraben free, and include xylitol (to fight cavities). They were created by two practicing dentists, looking for a simple, pleasant way to care for their own baby's smiles.
I received single use packets of Tooth Tissues to test and was impressed. The wipes are moist, but not dripping. The texture is very gentle; more gentle than the baby washcloths I used on my first two kids! I used a wipe on myself and noticed a slight taste, but nothing I could pinpoint. It was more of a "clean" taste if that makes any sense! After wiping my gums and cheeks I felt refreshed. Tooth Tissues would be good for adults to use for this reason; a quick freshen up after meals, when you can't brush. The single use packets would be perfect in a diaper bag or pocket book, for cleanings away from home.
Tooth Tissues are available in single use packets (12 for $4.00), or resealable pouches of thirty ($6.99). You can order online, or find a retailer near you at the Tooth Tissues website.
