I'm a total sucker for a good chick flick. I don't care that they're all basically based on the same premise.....they make me happy. And happy is good. The newest chick flick to hit theaters is He's Just Not That Into You, starring Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly, Scarlett Johansson, and others. It's based on the book of the same name.
I remember when the book He's Just Not That Into You came out. I was a wild and crazy single girl in the big city, and one of my wild and crazy single girl friends brought it with her to lunch one day. She told me," You HAVE to read this book...it is HILARIOUS and sooo true". So I went out and got my own copy..and LORDY she was right. I saw so many of my dating mistakes in black and white on those pages, that I almost checked myself into dating rehab.
Obviously, I can't WAIT to see how they turned such a fabulous dating guidebook into a big screen Hollywood movie. Plus, I'll watch anything with Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore. LOVE them.
Going hand in hand with any good movie is a GREAT soundtrack, right? It's the background music playing during those dramatic scenes that builds our emotions. It's the songs we hear days later on the radio that transport us back to the mood we felt during the movie. Naturally, this movie has a KILLER soundtrack.
I received a sneak peek preview of the soundtrack for He's Just Not That Into You from the One2One Network and I've been playing it ever since. Like any good chick flick, the soundtrack has highs and lows. Some songs are upbeat and bouncy, and make me want to dance around the living room. Others are more low key...perfect for sitting around, ruminating on what the heck is UP with that guy you're seeing. I cant wait to see how these songs are placed within the movie, because they really encompass the entire spectrum of dating and relationship emotions.
There's plenty of oldie and goody artists on the soundtrack (like R.E.M., Talking Heads, The Black Crowes, Maroon 5, and The Cure). But there's also lots of newcomers..and even a fabulous performance by Scarlett Johansson! That's one of the things I love the most about this soundtrack...one minute I'm tapping my toes to an artist I've never been introduced to. The next minute I'm dancing around in a teenage memory fog to The Cure. It's fabulous!
He's Just Not That Into You is in theaters now, and the soundtrack is available wherever music is sold. And for a good laugh, be sure to pick up the book that started it all!
